Our Gear

When it comes to successful bass fishing in Western Washington, the right gear shapes the entire experience.

I invest in equipment that performs at the highest level, so every angler who steps aboard has a real advantage. From the boat itself to the smallest lure, each piece of gear plays a role in making your trip smooth, efficient, and exciting.

Boat

Your day begins on a 2022 CX 21 Pro Bass boat powered by a 300hp Mercury Pro XS. This setup blends speed, comfort, and tournament-level performance. Earl Bentz designed this boat with anglers in mind, and it shows the moment you step on the deck. The oversized, padded front deck gives two anglers plenty of space to run multiple techniques without crowding. Meanwhile, the rear deck offers generous storage and comfortable casting room for a third angler. If the lake is calm and you feel ready for a thrill, this rig can reach speeds near 70 mph. It is fast, stable, and built for serious bass fishing.

Our Gear

Electronics

Fishing deep-water smallmouth requires strong electronics, so the boat runs Lowrance HDS Live units with three 12-inch screens. You can switch between live sonar, side scan, and down scan to see structure, fish movement, and bottom detail with incredible clarity. Everything connects through a Lowrance Ghost trolling motor, which stays quiet in the shallows and locks you onto a spot even when the wind tries to move you around. This combination of technology lets you make informed decisions all day long.

Rods

For rods, I rely on St. Croix and have partnered with the company for more than a decade. Their rods stay light, balanced, and technique-specific, which helps you feel subtle bites and fish comfortably for hours. You will have access to a full lineup of spinning and casting rods chosen to match Northwest bass patterns.

Reels

Each rod pairs with a Lew’s spinning or casting reel. These reels are tournament-tested and offer smooth, consistent performance. They handle big fish, finesse presentations, and long days without hesitation. Quality reels matter, so I make sure you fish with equipment I trust.

Baits

Finally, the tackle selection covers every situation. I work closely with brands such as Strike King, VMC, Rapala, Spearpoint, and Bass Pro Shops. Because of that, the boat carries a full range of baits for the top, middle, and bottom of the water column. No matter how the fish behave, we have the right tools to target them effectively.

With this level of gear, you can focus on fishing while I guide you through the best techniques and patterns on the lake.
