Jon’s Northwest Outdoors began in 2011, yet the story behind it stretches much farther back. My life has always flowed toward the water. I grew up on the Olympic Peninsula, where the rivers twist through deep green forest and invite young anglers to chase salmon, steelhead, and trout. That is where I learned to read currents the way some kids learned to read books. Every bend meant a new lesson, and every season shaped the angler I would become.

As the years passed, I moved toward the Puget Sound region, and something new hooked me. Bass fishing in Western Washington carried a kind of puzzle-like thrill, so I leaned into it. Over time, it became my main focus. While I still enjoy big game hunting and upland bird seasons, the pull of bass fishing keeps me on the water more days than not.

Since about 2011, I have competed in tournaments throughout the Northwest.

Tournament fishing sharpened my instincts, pushed my skills forward, and taught me how to make strong decisions under pressure. Because of this, I guide with confidence and clarity. I want every client to feel the same sense of growth that kept me chasing fish for more than forty years.

When someone steps onto my boat, I do more than put them on productive water. I explain the how and the why behind each choice, from lure selection to boat position. As we move from spot to spot, people often surprise themselves by how quickly their understanding grows. That progress is one of my favorite parts of guiding, and it keeps me excited for every trip.

My goal is simple. I want to exceed expectations, share the joy of Northwest bass fishing, and create memorable days that stick with people long after the rods are stowed. Over the years, many clients have become friends, and those relationships make this work truly rewarding.
